Lighwave would be fantastic, but 3ds, fbx would also be welcome.

The next version of Balancer will support FBX and/or COLLADA file formats. We will try to add some other commonly used 3d formats as well.

What about providing SDK for importing/exporting back the vertices/indices? This way, users can use their own format.

Thanks for the idea of providing SDK for importing/exporting plugins.
We will consider to add this capability in the upcoming versions.

RE: The next version of Balancer will support FBX and/or COLLADA file formats
=====> Yes I alos need this.Because I directly use some models of google or 3Dvia and they are all in Collada.
And because I try to use those models in Internet I do have to reduce the size. Thus I need (or will need) Atangeao.
thank you

We understand how important for Balancer to support other popular 3D formats,
and we hope to add at least one of them very soon.

If you bring FBX support, can you make it so that rigged meshes can be reduced and stay rigged on export?

Collada and FBX support will be added to Balancer.
And yes, we want to add full support for these formats including
rigged meshes - Dreamcube017, thanks for mentioning this.

We decided to add tolerance based simplification first,
since we considered it as a unique and very useful
feature.

You guys put in the rigged object support, and you've got yourselves a definate upgrade from me... Right now the only other solution is Simplygon... which is simply WAY too expensive... (so much so infact that the price isn't even listed on their site.)

really looking forward to that.

Hello,

I'm a new Atangeo customer (nBalancer Pro) and very happy with the product so far. Is there any update on when the FBX support will be available though? That would be very helpful!

Hello rilucero,

Thanks for your kind words.
We are working on a complete redesign that will add support for FBX and other formats and we hope to release it soon.
